Florida Bass Fishing Report for Lake Okeechobee

Florida Bass Fishing Report, father and son on Lake Okeechobee.

Fishing with fathers and kids is some of my favorite trips. Trip today is with Keith Lane & son Anthony for Largemouth bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee. The Lanes are taking time out of there busy lives to spend time together and sharing the great outdoors is good way to do that. I love taking my daughter fishing and hunting we have great memories and adventures and I hope to have allot more. When we take our kids outdoors it is not only the adventures you share opportunities to learn about nature, appreciate the beauty and learn to respect it. I believe that you can teach a kid to fish, they will learn a relaxing hobby along with enjoy nature and may avoid trouble.  I had the opportunity to fish with father and 13 year old sun Keith and Anthony Lane and what a great trip. I saw the fire in that kids eyes as he was eager to learn and catch them and so was his dad. We started are day with 4 dozen shiners and was out of bait in 3 hours the fish were biting good and when we run out of live bait we used artificial and caught a bunch more. This kid loves to fish and that will make a great angler. Not only is it a great Hobby it can be a carrier or a part time income. There is opportunities in college for kids to get on a college team which is getting big go Gators fishing team. So when you get a chance to take a kid fishing do so you will be glad you did.

I hope to see ya soon good fishing and God bless

Till next time tight lines and good fishing….

Fishing Guide for Lake Okeechobee

Hi Everyone this Capt. Mark Shepard,

Lake Okeechobee the bass fishing has been really good, with some big weight in on local tournaments on Lake. This is a good sign for the upcoming season.

The lake level is dropping and can make navigation tough so go fishing with some one that knows the lake before you go in your own boat.

As the water goes down the fishing gets better and makes for some awesome numbers for bass fishing. There has been a few crappies being caught and that is some great news for the lake. The numbers of all native fish are doing great with some of the best fishing we have seen in a long time. I had the opportunity to talk with the lead biologist and learn that the reports show a huge rise in numbers of  native fish which well it’s a good thing making the fishing awesome. I get to fish all over the country and have never seen a fishery like Okeechobee. We have had a lot of fun on the guide trips even on the windy days and the fronts. If you have not fished this lake this is a must see for it is one of the most amazing places to see and fish in the USA.  Lake Okeechobee is heart of Florida and the Bass Fishing is just going to be phenomenal this year!

I hope to see ya soon, Capt. Mark Shepard

Till next time tight lines and good fishing….

Bass Fishing on Lake Okeechobee, Florida!

Hi I’m Captain Mark Shepard from Clewiston, Florida and it’s great to be back home on Lake Okeechobee.  Onboard with Steve, Donna Milam and Sandy Meredith all from Louisville, Kentucky.  The fishing on the lake has been great, especially now with cooler temperatures rolling in.  We started out fishing the edges of the grass with topwaters baits when the morning light is low or pitch worms & jig into the vegetation when the sun is shining. The first cast Steve catches a 3lb Okeechobee bass, and before I could hand the other rods to Donna & Sandy.  The lady’s always out shine the guys, she caught the next one a 5lb Largemouth bass.  The fishing was on & great for half day excursion. Sandy caught the trophy bass 9lbs, 25 inches.  Not bad for summertime bass fishing on world famous Lake Okeechobee and it’s just going to keep getting better as the weather cools down.  I hope to see yea soon, Capt. Mark Shepard

Till next time tight lines and good fishing….
